About the Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Bequest Manager to oversee and grow the Gift in Will program. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of the HMRI legacy giving initiatives while building long-lasting relationships with donors. You'll help ensure the continued success of HMRI’s fundraising efforts and contribute to advancing medical research and vital health initiatives. Key Responsibilities will include:
Design and implement a strategic plan for the Gift in Will program, setting annual targets for income and pipeline growth
Identify and cultivate high-potential supporters, building and maintaining trust-based relationships
Working with the Marketing team, organise Gift in Will engagement events to raise awareness of bequests and planned giving
Work collaboratively with across HMRI to identify supporters
Serve as the primary contact for executors, lawyers, and family
Maintain accurate record management and providing regular reports, as well as current knowledge of trends, laws, and best practices in estate planning and legacy giving
Key Requirements
Strong understanding of estate planning, wills, trusts, and charitable gift options
Experience with planned giving options for supporters
Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills
Empathy when discussing estate matters with supporters and family members
Ability to develop long-term plans and track program progress
Detail-oriented with strong project and deadline management skills, and experience in donor management software well regarded
Basic understanding of legal and financial documents related to estate planning
Experience working with legal professionals to resolve complex estate issues
