About the Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Bequest Manager to oversee and grow the Gift in Will program. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of the HMRI legacy giving initiatives while building long-lasting relationships with donors. You'll help ensure the continued success of HMRI’s fundraising efforts and contribute to advancing medical research and vital health initiatives. Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Design and implement a strategic plan for the Gift in Will program, setting annual targets for income and pipeline growth

  • Identify and cultivate high-potential supporters, building and maintaining trust-based relationships

  • Working with the Marketing team, organise Gift in Will engagement events to raise awareness of bequests and planned giving

  • Work collaboratively with across HMRI to identify supporters

  • Serve as the primary contact for executors, lawyers, and family

  • Maintain accurate record management and providing regular reports, as well as current knowledge of trends, laws, and best practices in estate planning and legacy giving

Key Requirements

  • Strong understanding of estate planning, wills, trusts, and charitable gift options

  • Experience with planned giving options for supporters

  • Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills

  • Empathy when discussing estate matters with supporters and family members

  • Ability to develop long-term plans and track program progress

  • Detail-oriented with strong project and deadline management skills, and experience in donor management software well regarded

  • Basic understanding of legal and financial documents related to estate planning

  • Experience working with legal professionals to resolve complex estate issues
