About the organisation

Since 1977, Jenny's Place has provided crisis and transitional accommodation, support, early intervention and prevention programs, outreach support and community education to women and children experiencing domestic violence and homelessness in our local community. Their programs deliver integrated case management to assist clients to obtain and maintain safe, affordable housing and referral to appropriate wrap around services to meet individual client needs.

Jenny’s Place has a vision of a community free of violence and homelessness and the team are committed to supporting women and children to achieve this outcome.  

About the role 

This newly appointed role to the Jenny’s Place team will be integral to the multidisciplinary Specialist Children and Young Person (SCYP) program for Jenny’s Place clients. As a part of the SCYP Program, the occupational therapist provides assessment and treatment for women, children and young people with various sensory, motor, perceptual, or learning challenges.

Key duties:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the needs and abilities of women and children.

  • Develop and implement individualised therapy plans to enhance daily functioning and emotional well-being.

  • Provide therapeutic interventions, including exercises, adaptive techniques, and assistive devices.

  • Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic care.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and outcomes.

  • Advocate for necessary resources and accommodations to meet client needs.

About you

As the Occupational Therapist at Jenny’s Place you will bring skills and experience in the following areas:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and current registration to practice as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board, AHPRA.

  • Experience in working with children, families and community who have experienced domestic violence is highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development and commitment to evidence based practice.

  • Demonstrated experience in providing paediatric Occupational Therapy services.

  • Knowledge of, and ability to use multidisciplinary teamwork, and to collaborate with other services/organisations relevant to case management and service delivery.

Please note this role is designated for a female under section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act and will require WWCC, a National Criminal Record Check and Covid 19 full Vaccination Certificate.
