Our client is a well-established, locally operated business with over 25 years of experience delivering line marking, safety solutions, and traffic management services across New South Wales. They work across mining, commercial, industrial, local government, and infrastructure sectors, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and efficient project execution.

About the Opportunity

As the Operations Manager, you will lead field and workshop operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to industry standards. Reporting to the Managing Director, you’ll be responsible for workforce coordination, resource management, and operational improvements while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. You will also play a key role in financial oversight, managing budgets and cost efficiencies to support business objectives.

This is a dynamic, hands-on role that goes beyond the standard 9-to-5, offering the opportunity to be involved in the full operational cycle. Some flexibility in working hours may be required to support crews across different shifts and ensure seamless project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee project execution, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance with industry standards.

  • Lead workforce management, including resource allocation, scheduling, and performance oversight.

  • Drive a strong safety culture, ensuring HSEQ compliance through audits, risk assessments, and training.

  • Maintain and manage fleet, equipment, and materials to optimise readiness and efficiency.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline operations and reduce downtime.

  • Manage financial aspects of operations, including budgeting, cost control, and resource planning.

  • Maintain compliance with CSIRO PCCP accreditation and regulatory requirements.

  • Engage with clients, councils, and contractors to ensure seamless project execution.

  • Support business growth through contract management, tender preparation, and pricing strategies.

  • Investigate and resolve operational challenges, ensuring continuous improvement and risk mitigation.

About You

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an operations leadership role, ideally within civil construction, traffic management, or heavy industry.

  • Strong understanding of HSEQ standards, risk management, and regulatory compliance.

  • Financial oversight experience, including budget management and cost control.

  • Hands-on leader with a focus on process improvement and operational efficiencies.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Ability to balance strategic planning with field-based oversight.

  • Adaptable and proactive, with the flexibility to support operational teams across various shifts when needed.

  • White Card, HR Licence, LF Licence, First Aid Certificate are essential
