About the Opportunity
This Newcastle-based leadership role oversees a key maintenance operation across the Hunter Valley. You will take ownership of rollingstock and facilities maintenance while driving safety and cultural reform across the region.
  
This is ideal for a hands-on leader ready to move beyond day-to-day delivery. You will guide planning and execution, strengthen team capability and embed a high-performance culture. The role also offers genuine scope to influence strategy and lead change, with the support of an engaged senior leadership team.
  
Key Responsibilities
 • Lead a regional team to deliver safe, reliable and efficient maintenance
 • Champion safety and oversee incident reviews and improvements
 • Embed systems that drive compliance, performance and cost control
 • Develop business cases and lead strategic initiatives
 • Build team capability through coaching and succession planning
 • Collaborate across operations, training, supply chain and executive teams
 • Oversee maintenance of rollingstock, facilities and fuelling
 • Manage budgets, inventory and reporting
 • Foster strong relationships in a unionised environment
  
About You
 • Strategic leader with experience in complex maintenance or asset operations
 • Background in rail, mining, logistics or large fleet environments
 • Proven success in cultural and safety transformation
 • Skilled in systems, process improvement and team alignment
 • Experienced in building business cases and leading change
 • Focused on team growth and future planning
 • Confident managing performance, compliance and budgets
 • Comfortable working within unionised, safety-critical settings
 • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, science, management or business
