About the opportunity

The Safety and Wellbeing Manager is responsible for leading the team of six (6) and ensuring all principles of health, safety, recover at work, and wellbeing are effectively communicated and implemented across the organisation of over 1,000 employees. 
This leadership position will partner closely with all levels of the organisation, including Executive Directors, to implement a Safety and Wellbeing strategy that will work towards preventing injury rates and, importantly, prioritizes the wellbeing of the organisation’s workforce.  The Safety and Wellbeing Manager is also responsible for the performance of the workers compensation portfolio and ensuring all team members impacted by a work-related injury have a genuine person centred experience focused on durable recover at work outcomes.

Additional skills and experience we are seeking include:

  • Demonstrated ability for effective team leadership and management across multiple office and/or site locations and to ensure the effective performance of the Safety and Wellbeing Team.

  • Tertiary qualifications (undergraduate/postgraduate) in WHS, Occupational Rehabilitation or related field.

  • Well-developed experience and understanding of managing workers compensation, rehabilitation, recover at work and claims management.

  • Experience conducting workplace safety inspections, investigations, and audits.

  • Demonstrated understanding of legislation, regulations, and Safework Code of Practices.

  • Experience working in a self-insured or Loss Prevention Recovery (LPR) model environment is desirable.

  • High level of self-management and time management skills.

  • Excellent communication skills including negotiation, interpersonal, presentation, facilitation and report writing skills and the ability to present technical information in a readily understandable format.
