A permanent and temp contract Mechanical Engineer opportunity exits with one of Newcastle’s premier employers working within a connected, innovative and supportive culture, closely knit to the success and growth of the region.
Previous experience working within a heavy industry plant operating environment is essential.
There is a Permanent opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer
3-month temporary position available with an immediate start to cover the recruitment process for the permanent role.
These Senior Mechanical Engineer roles operate within the Assets and Infrastructure team. You will play a key role coordinating and optimising the overall efficiency of the mechanical operations of the plant. You will lead a small team responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency and safety of the plant.
Key Responsibilities include:
Providing engineering advice and support to operations, maximizing plant availability
Practicing as a professional engineer, as well as managing a small team of Engineers.
Supporting the development and implementation of HS&E systems.
Providing strong technical expertise in component design, load and capacity assessment, parts selection, failure investigations and continuous improvement tasks.
Provide full cycle Project Management, executing continuous improvement, feasibility studies, co-ordinate activities for pre-commissioning, commissioning and handover of new or modified plant.
Manage the contractor and consultant support stakeholder management
Planning of major maintenance events overseeing budgets
Education & Experience:
Formal Mechanical Engineering degree
Experience in heavy industry, specific belt conveying desirable
Project Management experience
Ability to write and present reports
Up to date knowledge of legislative requirements
Commitment to safety management
Exposure to large dynamic machinery
Hydraulics and rail experience desirable
Personal attributes:
Strong analytical problem solving skills
Exceptional planning and organizational skills
Strong business acumen
Well-developed communication and negotiation skills
