About the organisation

Since 1977, Jenny's Place has provided crisis and transitional accommodation, support, early intervention and prevention programs, outreach support and community education to women and children experiencing domestic violence and homelessness in our local community. Their programs deliver integrated case management to assist clients to obtain and maintain safe, affordable housing and referral to appropriate wrap around services to meet individual client needs.

Jenny’s Place has a vision of a community free of violence and homelessness and the team are committed to supporting women and children to achieve this outcome.  

About the role 

This newly appointed role of Speech Pathologist will provide high quality clinical services as an integral part of the multidisciplinary Specialist Women, Children and Young Person (SWCYP) team for Jenny’s Place clients.

Applying a strengths-based and trauma informed approach the Speech Pathologist will work with accompanied children and young people living in a refuge and who are experiencing, or who have experienced, domestic and family violence.

About you

As the Speech Pathologist you will bring skills and experience in the following areas:

  • Demonstrated clinical knowledge, experience and skills in assessing and managing paediatric clients (0-17 years) with a variety of communication disorders.

  • Experience in working with children, families and community who have experienced domestic violence is highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated communication skills, liaison, negotiation and advocacy skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer literacy and time management.

  • Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development and commitment to evidence based practice.

  • Knowledge of, and ability to use multidisciplinary teamwork, and to collaborate with other services/organisations relevant to case management and service delivery.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology which provides eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia, with post graduate experience in paediatric speech pathology practice.

Please note this role is designated for a female under section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act and will require WWCC, a National Criminal Record Check and Covid 19 full Vaccination Certificate.
