About the organisation
Since 1977, Jenny's Place has provided crisis and transitional accommodation, support, early intervention and prevention programs, outreach support and community education to women and children experiencing domestic violence and homelessness in our local community. Their programs deliver integrated case management to assist clients to obtain and maintain safe, affordable housing and referral to appropriate wrap around services to meet individual client needs.

About the role 
The Team Leader of the Specialist Workers for Children and Young People (SWCYP) will lead a small team of Caseworkers, ensuring high-quality services for children and youth who are clients of Jenny’s Place. In this role, you will hold a small caseload whilst overseeing and coordinating the delivery of services, plus collaborating with community partners to meet the needs of clients facing domestic family violence and homelessness.
  
Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide high quality trauma informed, strength- based case work to children and young people who have experienced DFV and/or homelessness.

  • Guide assessment, develop and monitor case plans, equip staff through training and mentoring and collect data on outcomes.

  • Supervise, mentor and coach a team of Caseworkers, providing guidance and support.

  • Oversee complex cases, ensuring comprehensive and coordinated support for children.

  • Advocate for clients, working with schools, healthcare providers, and community organisations to ensure access to services.

  • Ensure compliance with organisational standards, legal requirements, and best practices in service delivery.

  
About you
As the SWCYP Team Leader you will bring skills and experience in the following areas:

  • Proven experience in child welfare or social work with experience in a leadership or supervisory role.

  • Strong leadership, mentoring and coaching abilities.

  • Expertise in child development, including those affected by domestic violence and homelessness is desired.

  • Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.

  • Ability to manage complex cases, lead multi-disciplinary teams and crisis interventions, and advocate for vulnerable populations.

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of domestic and family violence is desirable.

  • Tertiary qualifications in social work, community services or related discipline.

  • Current driver's license, vehicle and live within 40km of Newcastle
